چکیده

Deep geothermally heated oil stratifications represent newly recognized non-volcanic islands of microbial life at extremely high temperatures, some 3,500 m below the surface. Samples of produced fluids contain high concentrations of various anaerobic extremely thermophilic and hyperthermophilic archaea and bacteria, indicating the presence of complex microbial communities in situ. The isolates consist of heterotrophs and facultative and obligate chemolithoautotrophs, some of which are able to use crude oil in their energyyielding reactions. They belong to the genera Archaeoglobus, Thermococcus, Pyrococcus, Methanococcus, Methanobacterium, Thermotoga, Thermosipho, and Thermodesulfobacterium. Most isolates are members of species already known from hot springs and hydrothermal vents. They may have entered the reservoirs through natural routes such as faults and oil seeps or by sea water injection. A great deal are sulfidogens and may, therefore, participate in reservoir "souring" at temperatures previously considered too high for biochemical reactions.

Ecologic genomics of DNA: upstream bending in prokaryotic promoters.

After our analysis of the distribution of predicted intrinsic curvature along all available complete prokaryotic genomes, the genomes were divided into two groups. Curvature distribution in all prokaryotes of the first group indicated a substantial fraction of promoters characterized by intrinsic DNA curvature located within or upstream of the promoter region. We did not find this peculiar DNA ...

In-situ stress regime in the Asmari reservoir of the Zeloi and Lali oil fields, northwest of the Dezful embayment in Zagros fold-thrust belt, Iran

This paper analyzes in-situ stress field in the Asmari formation with in the complex structures of the Zeloi and Lali oilfields located in the Dezful embayment, SW Iran. The orientation of the maximum horizontal stress, SHmax is determined on the basis of compressive borehole breakouts and drilling-induced tensile fractures observed in eight oil wells, in which we focus on well-log based method...

The question of DNA repair in hyperthermophilic archaea.

Hyperthermophilic archaea grow at temperatures that destabilize the primary structure of DNA and in evolutionary terms they are highly divergent from other well studied microorganisms. These prokaryotes should therefore require DNA damage repair to be unusually effective, and could employ novel mechanisms for this repair. Recent genome sequence analyses and biochemical and genetic assays sugges...

Technology transfer strategy in the upstream oil industry (oil fields development) of the Islamic Republic of Iran has provided the effectiveness of technology transfer model

The aim of this research is the determining strategy of technology transfer in the upstream oil industry (oil fields development) of the Islamic Republic of Iran with the use of effective conditional models of technology transfer. In this study, the views and attitudes of 30 managers and experts familiar with the issues of technology transfer, including transfer of technology in the development...

Complete genome sequence analysis of Archaeoglobus fulgidus strain 7324 (DSM 8774), a hyperthermophilic archaeal sulfate reducer from a North Sea oil field

Archaeoglobus fulgidus is the type species of genus Archaeoglobus Stetter 1998, a hyperthermophilic sulfate reducing group within the Archaeoglobi class of the euryarchaeota phylum. Members of this genus grow heterotrophically or chemolithoautotrophically with sulfate or thiosulfate as electron acceptors. Except for A. fulgidus strain 7324 and the candidate species "Archaeoglobus lithotrophicus...
